150 years of MEZ-TECHNIK GmbH and MEZ GmbH – shared roots, one family, two companies.
Linked by a long, rich history characterised by innovation and trust, the MEZ family businesses stand for reliability, quality and innovation. What began as a small craft business in Gönningen has developed over five generations into a modern, forward-looking company.
Our companies are characterised by shared values – then as now. Passion, drive and cohesion have created a foundation that continues to support us today. The history of MEZ does not begin with ventilation technology or machine cladding – but with ideas for everyday life. Chimney capsules, clothes hangers, orange peelers, gutter supports and even sandboxes for children were developed and manufactured.
This diversity shows what has defined us from the very beginning: curiosity, inventiveness and the ability to turn every challenge into a product.

In this anniversary year, we are celebrating Georg Mez's 90th birthday.
The entrepreneurial spirit, innovative strength and deep understanding of craftsmanship of the Mez family have always been decisive for the development and success of the company. These values have been passed down through generations – from the first tinsmith's workshop in 1875 to the internationally active company that MEZ is today.
Georg Mez is a visionary with his feet firmly on the ground. He is someone who knows that success does not fall from the sky, but comes from the workshop. Georgia Brielmann has been managing MEZ GmbH since 2021.
Today, MEZ is a specialist in machine cladding and complex sheet metal assemblies – with the highest standards of quality and precision.
With a passion for technology and an eye for detail, we accompany our customers from the initial idea to final assembly: development, design, production and assembly from a single source.
Firmly rooted in the region, we work hand in hand. With expertise, a spirit of partnership and enthusiasm, we create solutions that stand the test of time.
Since 2021, Georgia Brielmann has been leading the company into the next generation: grown from practical experience, with a clear vision for the future of MEZ.

Whether it's a cover, enclosure or protective cladding – MEZ develops and manufactures tailor-made system solutions from a single source. Precise, efficient and collaborative.
We combine sophisticated design with strict scheduling and efficient series production. This is how we create driver's cabs and compact cabins for construction machinery, for example.
We also meet the highest standards in high-tech sectors such as the semiconductor industry. With our own clean room and comprehensive expertise, we develop and manufacture machine enclosures that guarantee safety, cleanliness and quality.
And in the food industry, our protective cladding ensures hygienic processes, economical materials and optimal workflows.

Foundation
Ludwig Eberhard Mez establishes a craft business for plumbing work, including a retail shop.
Louis Mez takes over
After two years of renovation, the impressive commercial and residential building with a shop, office and workshop opened in Gönningen's Unterdorf district.
Alfred Mez takes over
Initially together with his father Louis under the company name L & A Mez OHG.
Georg Mez takes over
At the age of 23 and with a starting capital of 11,000 Deutschmarks, Georg took over the family business on 1 July. With a team of five, it was already possible to take on larger orders.
Willi Sauer
Alfred Mez's son-in-law joined the family business Mez in 1956 as a master plumber and operations manager. He managed the plumbing and sewer pipe manufacturing divisions, was responsible for many technical innovations, and shaped the company's success for decades with his craftsmanship and dedication.
Restructured
Under the name Georg Mez GmbH & Co. KG Heizungs-Lüftungs-Sanitär und Flaschnerei, the production and installation of air ducts was professionalised. Kurt Riehle took over the technical department, Willy Häußler the accounting department and Egon Häußler the oil-fired heating systems. This created a clear structure for further growth.
Church commissions
Mez quickly became well known in the Lake Constance region thanks to prestigious commissions such as the copper roofing of the church dome in Friedrichshafen and the Catholic Church in Orschel-Hagen. Further enquiries and commissions followed.
MEZ FLANGE SYSTEM
Georg Mez registers the first patent for the MEZ FLANGE SYSTEM type SBM air duct profile.
Registration MEZ
Numerous patents in the field of ventilation technology were developed under this brand.
New location
Georg Mez purchased the Gönningen tuff stone factory for 450,000 DM at the time, which included three halls, a stone crusher, a water turbine, an agricultural building with a courtyard, storage areas and approximately 30,000 m² of fields. This property immediately became the new operating location for MEZ.
Wolfgang Linder
He began his apprenticeship at Georg Mez GmbH & Co. KG and remained loyal to the company for 47 years.
ISH FFM trade fair
MEZ exhibited for the first time at the leading ISH trade fair in Frankfurt, thereby strengthening its international visibility as an innovative partner in heating, ventilation and air conditioning technology.
Expansion of production
The first cabs for Liebherr and machine covers were manufactured.
Plant in Poland
Operations were successfully reorganised, efficiency increased and costs reduced. A decisive step was the establishment of a plant in Włocławek, Poland, which secured qualified skilled workers and brought cost advantages.
Foundation of MEZ-TECHNIK GmbH
The sales department for ventilation accessories became an independent, growing company for components for ventilation systems (BLA for short) – including development, consulting and manufacturing.
Re-entry of Dr Bernd Mez
Dr Bernd Mez takes over the family business in its fifth generation and changes the company name to Mez GmbH & Co.
New management team at MEZ-TECHNIK GmbH
Jörg Mez joined the company in 2002 as a sales representative after holding various positions in sales, marketing and management in Germany and abroad. In 2004, he took over the management of MEZ-TECHNIK GmbH together with Wolfgang Linder.
New building for MEZ-TECHNIK GmbH
This year saw the construction of the new headquarters on Bierwiesenstraße in Gönningen.
Partnership with AEROSEAL LLC, USA
A milestone in the company's history. In 2015, MEZ-TECHNIK obtained the exclusive licence for AEROSEAL technology in Europe – an innovative process for sealing air ducts.

Since 2021, Georgia Brielmann has been leading the company into the next generation: growing from practical experience, with a clear vision for the future of MEZ.
Extension / New building MEZ-TECHNIK GmbH
The new extension continues the architectural style of the first section of the building. New space for the AIRWORKER Academy covering 290 m² and a further 290 m² for offices were created and connected to the existing building by an entrance hall. In addition, a further 1,300 m² warehouse was built. The administration building meets the KfW 55 standard and is equipped with an HVAC system, a heat pump and concrete core temperature control for room cooling.
Partnership with AIRCLEAN & SERVICE SRL, Italy
MEZ-TECHNIK becomes a distribution partner of AIRCLEAN & SERVICE SRL. The hygiene division has thus been expanded to include intelligent robot solutions and cleaning systems for automated air duct cleaning.
MEZ-TECHNIK GmbH online shop
The new online shop laid the foundation for our further digitalisation: simpler, more intuitive and visually appealing. At the same time, a completely modern shopping experience was created.
